Colorful books with floral illustrations on covers and the text 'Sandout Books' in large, black 3D letters beneath them.

Hi! I’m Kimberly. When I’m not reading, writing, or selling queer romance, I’m working in a library and studying for my Master of Library and Information Science. Otherwise, I’m probably spending time with my dog Beanie. Or tap dancing. Or hosting a silent book club, or sending stream-of-consciousness texts to all my friends…

Standout Books came out of a dream to make queer romance novels more accessible to people in Singapore. Representation matters, and there’s nothing like reading a joyful love story about characters we see ourselves in.

Each book featured in this subscription service was carefully selected with the goal of representing a wide range of identities and experiences. I hope you connect with these wonderful, brave, queer stories.

evelina, just happy to be here

Hi there! My name is Evelina. I’m Sámi, from Sweden, an Aries, a proud bisexual, and my role here on Standout Books is, first and foremost, as Kim’s #1 Hype Woman.

Standout Books really is Kim’s brainchild and when she told me about this business she was going to start I knew I wanted to help in any way shape or form. Thankfully she took me up on my offer.

My main responsibility is the Standout Books visuals, such as this very website and the logo.

For the logo, my goal was to use iconic queer visuals (such as the flowers on the logo) to pay homage to the people who fought and are still fighting for our community.

Queer joy is the backbone of the brand and I wanted that to shine through every corner of this website. On top of that, I also really wanted to capture the essence of Kim herself. Her joy and her whimsy and all the joy she spreads wherever she goes.

I know how important it is to see ourselves reflected positively in the media we consume. Queer joy saves lives, and I’m so proud to work on a project that is all about paying some of that joy forward.
